Hi. My name is Randy Taft and I am running for the board of the STHHA as an incumbent. For the past 3 years I was Vice President and Acting President during the tragic barn fire; which was a tremendous undertaking juggling victims, press, and donations. Along with fellow board members we negotiated a good contract and even got everyone paid in the event of a late cancellation. I have also been a strong advocate of community outreach programs such as the “First Responders appreciation”and “It takes a village”amateur scholarship days. I want to try and help horse racing make a comeback in the eyes of the public and feel like I have a good rapport with management to help do that. Thanks for your support!
I am an owner and driver with a horse farm in Liberty NY. I have been actively involved in the sport since 2007 and established a charity in 2008.The charity has provided scholarships and funding for horse rescue and has recently set up programs to provide equine therapy to those in need.
I established amateur driving clubs at The Meadowlands and Monticello and have served on the board of the The Monticello Horsemen’s Association.
I care deeply about the future of the sport and those making their living in it. I especially care about the welfare of the animals while racing and when retired.
i am a chartered financial consultant specializing in investments and insurance. I have been married to my wife Laurie for 42 years and have 2 daughters. I enjoy golf,tennis and pickleball . I can bring a lot of expertise to the board to assist both the horsemen and the track. I thank you all in advance for your consideration.
Hello my name is Mike Sinclair, for all who know me I usually go by Sinclair ( to many mike's). I have been training horses for 43 years, my full-time job for the past 38. Started racing at Tioga in 2013 . 2015 I made it my home. With my wife aka Brianne our outrider we purchased land in the area and proceeded to build our farm. That said I am all in on Tioga Downs. Three years ago I decided to run for the board of the STHHA because there needed to be change. That year I was instrumental in negotiating our new contract. Was able to get in writing winter training, splits for cancellation and 3 days of racing every week. I served as VP for a year until taking over 8 months ago as President. In the past 8 months I have forged new relations with management an this being a contract year are asking for your vote to keep moving an strengthening racing at Tioga Downs. Anyone who knows me I work 1000% for our members at all time an for 3 more years would love to continue.
