STHHA UPDATES:
The loan on the purse account was paid in full December 1, 2009.
The maintenance crew is busy in the backstretch, already preparing for our return.
We have a new board member, John Carrington, filling the seat of Fred Apker, who passed away this past year. He is a former standardbred owner, but continued to be a member of our association. We welcome his ideas and enthusiasm for our sport and association.
LETTER FROM THE BOARD - DECEMBER 7, 2009
RE: HEALTH INSURANCE
When the STHHA started our health insurance program, we were paying 50% of your premium as a membership benefit. In september 2008 there was a premium increase, which we absorbed. In September 2009, there was another increase that we again absorbed.
The Directors of the STHHA have decided, we must raise your monthly premium by 25% of the last increase starting in February 2010. The premium for a single person will be %159.00 a month, the two-person plan will be $319.00 and the family plan will be $427.00 per month, again beginning as of February 2010. There may be another 25% increase in June 2010, which would result in the equal sharing the September 2009 increase between STHHA and you as a member.
The Directors are also concerned about the promptness of receiving these insurance premiums. While many of you mail your payments on time, there are some members who are continually late. We have conferred withother associations and most say this if a premium is not paid by the 1st of the month, the insurance is cancelled. Our Board had decided on the following policy: While your payment is due on the first of each month, you have until the 25th of the month to pay for that month. If payment is not received by the 25th of a month, the insurance coverage will be cancelled. We are asking everyone who is behind in the monthly payments to get current by the end of January 2010. Starting February 25, 2020, if the current premium is not paid in full, the coverage will be cancelled.
